Art "The Wrench" Lanier, the man Johnny Airtime relies on when it comes to going fast or flying high. Art is the best mechanic Johnny has ever known, and they have worked together since 1974. From engines to suspension, Johnny takes it to The Wrench when it gets really technical. This conversation took place just moments before a ramp to ramp jump over an 18 wheeler lengthwise at Las Vegas International Raceway on the Sand Drags course. It was so dark that people had to park a few trucks pointing their headlights at the launch ramp so Johnny could see what he was hitting. After the landing he was in a well-lit area. Ramp to ramp in the sand at night in 1986. Art Lanier made it possible and safe with his trick speedometer lighting setup.
